The Next Step

Sometimes we get caught up in planning the future.  We freak out because where we are currently, is not where we eventually would like to be.  Some of us are unhappy and confused, and look at quick fix solutions; a different job, thoughts of traveling, pursuing a fling etc.. However, after going though much of this mental struggle myself, I’ve realized that every choice and everything I’ve ever wanted, what I really want in life, has manifested itself into where I am right now.  My own thoughts and focus’ have brought me to where I am right now.  Which also made me realize, that I have gotten myself into a place in life that fits perfectly for what I really want to do with my life.  So instead of focusing on what I didn’t have and what I wasn’t doing, I realized that sometimes you find yourself in a place in life for a reason—and that place is exactly where you need to be.  Getting scared and reverting to known paths in life, like a past job or career, is a response to fear stemmed from the unknown…and a lack of faith in yourself.

So I guess what I’m trying to explain, is that I’ve learned this week to have faith in the path you’ve put yourself on—if you feel it is a path that will allow you to live out your dreams. Ask yourself what you really think will make you happy; what your perfect everyday may be. Then look at all your options with that question in mind and follow the option that will eventually lead you to your “perfect everyday”.  It takes guts, but the only person that knows what is best for you at the end of the day, is you.  People will try to scare you or suggest better, “safer” options.  But at the end of the day, you just have to listen to your inner compass.  And maybe you will find, like I did, that you’re exactly where you need to be. The next step is simply committing to the path you’ve put yourself on.
